GNS Configuration Tester Utility
The GNS Configuration Tester utility is provided for easy configuration of the email and voice messaging keywords found in the GNS configuration file. The advantage of using this utility over typing the keywords directly into the configuration file is that the utility encrypts the values for all email and VoIP credentials. Additionally, it provides an interface for testing the email and voice messaging settings.
- On the Email page, you must select the authorization mode to be used for email notification sending and receiving (Basic or OAuth), configure necessary server names and values, authentication credentials, and test the email sending and retrieval process.
- On the VoIP page, you can configure authentication credentials, the SIP host, SIP STUN host (optional), and test the connection and audio file.
Note: All service keyword values can also be changed (and encrypted) using the Config File Manager.
The GNS Configuration Tester utility is stored in the CygNet\Utilities directory (GnsConfig.exe) on the host server. To start the utility, use Windows Explorer to browse to the directory and double-click the program icon.
Version Management
By default the GNS Configuration Tester utility is not version managed because it modifies the GNS.cfg file directly, and it must be run on the CygNet host. The test functionality of the utility only makes sense to run on the CygNet host, as there may be restrictions on the email and VoIP servers to only permit connections from a well-known IP address or IP address range.
However you can set up this utility to be installed and launched (started) via CygNet Client Installer so that the application can be version managed, if desired. See Version Management for instructions on how to do this.
